VSN Mini - Opening Ceremonies

Happy Sunday!!! It's a VSN Weekend at SCS...and the theme for this round is The Winter Olympics, so we kicked off with the Opening Ceremonies last night. Now, SCS was a little (ok, a lot) crazy on us last night. But you can still upload your entries until 10pm EST Monday night for your chance to be featured in the Medal Ceremony.

I kicked us off with the "Opening Ceremonies" challenge. To create a card using the colors of the flag from one of the participating countries. I created my card using Melanie's "School, Sports, Spirit!" set with the colors of the American flag. Go Team USA!! Next up was Dawn with the "Chill Out" challenge. For my card I used Nina's fun new set "Heartily Yours". I used the crashed glass technique on the image panel.
Adelle then brought us the "Red Mittens" challenge. I loved working with Asela's set "Fruitful Harvest" in red and white for this challenge. And adding in the yarn was just fun!!!
The "Olympic Biatholon" challenge that Janet hosted was up next. Incorporating the chalkboard technique is usually something that just doesn't turn out right for me. For this card I used Stampin' Up!'s "Thoughts and Prayers" set.
This next challenge by Carole was a challenge...."The Slalom Course". We had to incorporate an "S" or a wave, white as the only neutral, the kissing technique and pink had to be included (as a tribute to one of my favoritest stampers, LuvLee). The CASE'd Theresa's card for this challenge since by this point my brain was just dead. I used Tami's new set "Happy Hearts" and realized I really need the matching punches.
And last, but not least....was Robyn bringing us the "Spotlights On Ice" challenge. I used Theresa's new set "Purrr-fectly Delightful" and punched out the flowers to create my spotlight effect.
Happy Stamping,
Shannon

Etsy #73 - Elies Happy Hats

Happy Saturday!!!! Yep...running behind again! Being sick really put my cardmaking behind. I still have samples to make for tonight's VSN too.

Today's Etsy Inspired shop is
Elies Happy Hats. These hats are just adorable!!! I love me some hats!!!

I choose this hat as my inspiration, working from the color, texture and that big flower. I love making simple cards like this to have on hand. I used a sentiment from Gina K's Love Notes, and paired it with Ivory Pure Luxury cardstock, ribbon, and some Prima flowers. Easy Peasy!!!!

This week, Elies Happy Hats is offering up a HUGE prize pack! One lucky winner will get 1 Baby Flapper Summer Hat, 1 White/Purple two-layer flower hat, and 1 teddy bear hat.

But that's not all!! We have an awesome sponsor as well. It's Pixie Dust Studio. They offer tons of adorable digi stamps. They have given the DT some stamps to work with so you can see their cute stamps in action. They are offering up a prize of their new release, The Berry Fairies. :)

StampTV Color Challenge

Happy Monday!!! Can you believe a week has flown by again? Crazy isn't it?

This week I have my favorite masculine color challenge for you....Black, White and Kraft. Since I needed to make a birthday card for my sister's boyfriend's birthday today I knew this was the perfect color challenge to work with.

I created this card using the new StampTV kit. Super simple card using Gina's sketch from last week's inspiration challenge, and a great manly card.

I hope you'll join me this week at StampTV. Just upload your creation to the StampTV gallery with the keyword STVCCSB09.

Etsy #72 -

Happy Saturday!!!! I know....shocking that my post is up already huh? Well, I had plans last night so I set this to post this morning on Wednesday so I didn't have to worry about rushing to get it up on today at some point. It's amazing what happens when you're actually on top of things. Which I usually am not. So bad!!!! But I am trying to get better.

Today's Etsy Inspired shop is
Sweetie Pie Tutus. Now, I'm not one for little girls in tutus and such....just not my thang. But these are pretty cute. If that is your thang!!

And....it was super easy to create this fun "girly" card using "Pierrette Pointy Toes" from Stamping Bella. My inspiration was this pretty pink and purple fairy costume. I colored her using Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. And I used my new Nesties to cut her out. I just thought the curves kept with the whole "girly" theme.

How do you win? Just pick any item in the Sweetie Pie Tutus to be inspired by and make any creation that you wish. Link your creation back to the EtsyInspired #72 post on the EtsyInspired blog by next Friday Jan 29th, noon Pacific time to be entered into a drawing to win. Please make sure you credit the shop where you got your inspiration and this challenge to be eligible to enter. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use keyword EIC72.

And....we get to feature some of the older mermaids as well. So, I picked out one of my favorites....Paisley's Garden. I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. I added diamond Skickles to the bubbles for some sparkle along with the self-adhesive rhinestones.

The next stop on the hop is Alex's blog!!!

StampTV Color Challenge

Happy Monday!!!!!!!!
And it is a happy Monday too! I have the day off....and I'm planning on doing a whole lot of nothing!! And.....my nook arrives today......sooooooooo excited!!!! So, I'll have that to play with.

And you can play along with this week's color challenge at StampTV. This week I'm challenging you to create a card that's inspired by the colors of winter. To me, winter means a lot of time curled up on the couch under a blanket with a good book and a cat or 2 next to me. So, I used the color scheme of my living room to create my card....red, brown, and white.

The sweet little kitty is from Theresa's newest set "Purrr-fectly Delightful" and the sentiment is from Gina's set "Love Notes". I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I then used a clear glaze pen over the whole teacup to give it some shine.

I hope you'll come play with me!!!! Here's the link to the challenge....make sure you post your project into the StampTV gallery with the keyword STVCCSB08.

Happy Stamping,

Etsy Inspired #71 - Amethyst Soaps

Happy Saturday!!!! Sorry my post is up so late....my computer decided that it didn't want to run IE8 until I installed all the Windows Updates. 80 of them....which took all day today....ugh! But at least it's working now. I feel so lost without it sometimes.

Today's Etsy Inspired shop is Amethyst Soaps. Wow.....such amazing details in these soaps. I don't think I'd ever actually use them if I ever got some. They're just too pretty.

I choose these Sweetheart soaps as my inspiration for my card with "Lovebeetle" from Stamping Bella. So cute and fun to color. I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. The printed paper is the new Sugar Rush from Basic Grey and the cardstock is Gina K's Pure Luxury in Innocent Pink and Passionate Pink. Love these new colors!!!

This week the shop is giving away the Trio Small Tumbled Turquoise soaps. How do you win? Just pick any item in the Amethyst Soap shop to be inspired by and make any creation that you wish. Link your creation back to the EtsyInspired #71 post on the EtsyInspired blog by next Friday Jan 22nd, noon Pacific time to be entered into a drawing to win. CSS Inspiration Blog Hop

It's time for another GinaK CenterStage Spotlight Team Blog Hop!

Each artist was asked to design their project by drawing inspiration from these photos of the AMAZING Christmas Cookie Bouquet the CSS Team sent to Gina's DT Coordinator Jessica Fick:

Here's the card I created. I focused on the general colors, that a thank you usually follows a gift, a shaped card, and the liquid pearls as the icing. I also added Crystal Effects to the wine glass....just because.
The stamped images are all from Melanie's set "A Charmed Life". I stamped the wine glass first onto White Pure Luxury cardstock, colored it with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS, and then cut it out and layered it onto the card front. I then added the Crystal Effects to the glass and the Liquid Pearls to the charm and card scallops.

Cuddle Up Sunday!!!

Happy Sunday!!!! So...it's back.....Cuddle Up Sunday!!!!! I've been so slack in using my Ildi, Co. images lately with all my computer issues. Then, I go to print off some images this morning, and my printer decides that it won't let me print until I change the cyan cartridge! Hello....I only want to print in black.....I don't need cyan!!!! So, after a trip to the store for a new ink cartridge I printed off my new images and got right to work.
I created this card using the Snopals Flowers image with the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday in mind. Not too fluffy which I like. The Basic Grey Bittersweet papers are just perfect for this image too. I colored the snowlady with Copic markers.
