GKD August Release Challenges

I wanted to get this post up last night, but my mojo and energy level just died on me before I could finish the card.

This first project is for this month's sketch challenge. I stamped the images from Theresa's set "Happy Camper" in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. I paired it with some earthy Granola paper from Basic Grey and Pure Luxury White and Chocolate Kiss. This 2nd project was inspired by the tag Paula created .... and that I got to see in person!!! It's so much more amazing in person. I created it to match the planner (in the pic below) that I carry with me everywhere. The images are from "Take Flight" and "Tropical Flowers". The DP is by Cosmo Cricket and the CS is Crushed Curry, Whisper White, and Basic Black. The butterfly is colored with Copics.
The backside has my name on it and the whole thing is stitched inside acrylic sheets....not an easy task. I punched the hole with the Crop-a-Dile and added a Jumbo Eyelet and Crushed Curry polkadot ribbon.
Here's the matching planner that I created the tag to match. I created the pages and printed them out and then used my Bind-it-All to create the book. The covers are lightweight cardboard.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

Etsy Inspired #51

It's time for this week's Etsy Inspired Challenge!!!!! This week's shop, Red Crow Arts, has the most amazing mosaic and clay pieces.

I used these leaf tiles as my inspiration piece. And since they are kinda like a tile, I decided to use a tumbled tile for my project today. I did all the stamping and coloring with Staz-On inks. All the stamps are from the Gina K's StampTV kit Signs of Autumn. The sentiment is stamped in Black Staz-On, the leaves and wheat are stamped in Timber Brown Staz-On. I colored them using a paint brush in Mustard and Pumpkin Staz-On. I placed foam feet on the backside so I can set it flat on a surface without worrying about scratching to use as a coaster if I want to.

This week's giveaway is this amazing fired Tree of Life pendant. To enter to win, just create a project, any project, using Red Crow Arts' Etsy store as your inspiration and link it up to Ashley's blog by midnight PDT Sept. 4th. Easy Peasy!!!!

And........since it's the last Saturday of the month.....there's a Unity giveaway too!!!! Unity's giving away Time for Travel so make sure you get your project linked up this week.

It's a Bellariffic Friday....and I had some spare time to whip up something for this sketch. I haven't inked up Savvyshoppabella. I even busted out my Copics to color her. The background paper is Basic Grey's new JuneBug collection....love it!!!!

It's finally Thursday!!!!

I've been waiting all month for today!!! Do you know why??? Gina K's release party is tonight!! I'm super excited about it too. Have you seen the previews? OMG....I must have each and every new set! These releases just keep getting better and better. Amazing!!!
So, my little project I have to share with you today is the little mini composition book (that I picked up at Walgreen's for a whopping $0.50!!) I covered for this week's StampTV Color Challenge that Cindy hosted. The colors this week were orange, gray, and white/vanilla. So of course I had to bust out the Basic Grey Ambrosia paper pack for this one. I also grabbed the newest StampTV set for the pumpkins and sentiment.
I stamped the pumpkins onto Pure Luxury 80 lb cardstock and using the Wrinkle Free Distressing technique with a few orange (Pumpkin Pie and a scented pumpkin one) inks and some Tim Holtz Distress inks (Scattered Straw and Antique Linen). I added the shadowing to them after with Copics.
Make sure to swing by and drop in on the release party tonight at SCS. And let's cross our fingers that it doesn't get all crazy with the post flipping like last time.
Happy Stamping,
Shannon

So, the challenge this week was an inspiration challenge using a picture of a summer white dining room that made me want to head out on a vacation on a beach somewhere.

I dug out Pearl for this week and colored her up in blue and green using the striping on the chairs as my color inspiration using Copics. I kept the rest of the card white with clean lines similar to the inspiraion photo. The sentiment is from the Fairie Tales stamp set.

Now, hop on over to Jules blog and see what amazing creation she has for you this week.

StampTV Challenges

I was uber-productive in the stamping department this weekend!!!! And I have a few cards to share with you that I created for the StampTV challenges this week.

This first card is for the sketch challenge that Donna is hosting this week. I used Rupa's set "Guiding Light" for the lighthouse and roping. All the coloring is done with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. This card was created for the glitter technique challenge of using glitter pens that Gina showed us this week. I just love these videos!!! I used Asela's set "The Journey" for the door. and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS and Copics on the door and bushes.
Here you can see the glitter from the glitter pen I added to the bushes.

Friday's Potluck challenge was to use buttons, and I happened to have had this distressed tag on hands from playing around with the Wrinkle Free distess technique this morning. I used Theresa's "Timeless Treasures" stamp set to keep with the vintage feel. The sentiment is from Gina's "Rectangle Greetings" set.

Etsy Inspired #50

Happy Saturday!!!!! It's time for another Etsy Inspired Challenge. Can you believe it? Where are these weeks going???

This week's inspiration store is Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage. A great store full of handmade sewn items like purses, bags, pincushions, books, etc. I picked this drawstring bag as my inspiration piece.

I created my card using images from our sponsor this week Ildi, Co. This is Cuddles Kuma Sitting. I sized him down and created some DP using the image for the top of the card. Then I printed one out much larger for the main image. I colored all of them with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS.

This week, Mrs. Kwitty is offering a memo book cover and set of matching vintage button paper clips as the prize. All you have to do to win is pick any item from the Mrs. Kwitty's shop to be inspired by and make a creation of your choice. Your creation can be anything i.e. a card, a drawing, a layout, a cake, a piece of jewelry, etc... Take a picture of your creation and leave a link to Ashley's blog post by Aug 28 at noon Pacific time. You will be entered in a drawing to win the card of your choice! If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use keyword EIC50.

We also have a special sponsor this week! Ildi, Co. is the company I am currently designing for. They are a new digital stamp company that offers the cutest little bear stamps....with so many different types on the horizon! On top of the drawing for the memo cover, you will also be entered to win 3 free digital images and a 10% off coupon for your next order.

StampTV Color Challenge

I completed this card a few days ago, but haven't featured it here yet. It's for this week's color challenge at StampTV that Melanie hosted. So, in her honor, I decided to use one of her stamp sets, A Charmed Life.

The color challenge is black, white and green. I used a pale reed green cardstock as my starting point and colored the candle to match. I colored the candle with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. Yep.....I used the wine glass to create the candle. I just masked off the stem and added the candle wick with a black pen. The sentiment is from the set Perfectly Polished by Rupa Shevde. I then covered the candle with crystal effects to add dimension.

So, the challenge this week was a color challenge using teal and pink. Not exactly a color combination I use much, even though I like pink, I'm not a huge fan of teal.
So, I dug out Star and colored her up in teal using Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I even added some Stickles to her glasses and tail. I then layered up Taken with Teal cardstock and some Basic Grey paper. The sentiment is from the Fairie Tales stamp set.

GKD Color Challenge

It's been a very full day here at my house!!! I did manage to get 3 cards made today along with cleaning up the house and running some errands.

The card I have to share with you today is the one I created for Lee's color challenge at StampTV. The color combination was red, brown, and cream. I wasn't exactly sure where I was going with this card when I started out...and was actually going to go in a different direction at first, than what I ended up with. Go figure. I guess that's why I love this hobby so much!!!

I started out with a base of Close of Cocoa cardstock....added an embossed layer of Very Vanilla cardstock...and then the diecut layer of Riding Hood Red. I colored the leaves from the Signs of Autumn set from the new StampTV kit with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. The sentiment is from the Thanks a Million set that's also in the StampTV kit.

Happy Stampin'.

Elegant Blog Hop!!!

Friday's are Elegant!!!! Especially if you're stamping with Nina's newest stamp set "Elegant Post".

This is just an amazing set!!!! There are soooooooooooo many options with it....and the sentiments are just elegant. This first card I used the post, birdcage, and the 2 loving birds. Aren't they cute? I also used the sketch fromt his week's StampTV sketch challenge. It just worked so perfectly for this stamp set.

This card I sent to Kristen for her 21st birthday. I thought it was especially "girly"!! I paired the post and flower with Melanie's "Cuddles and Hugs" set for the leaves and grass.

For more inspiration with her Elegant Post stamp set tonight, please see Nina Brackett's blog. Nina has also designed two gorgeous digital paper pack that coordinate perfectly with her stamp set. They are called Grungy Elegance and Simple Elegance.

As promised....

here are 2 cards that I promised you earlier today to celebrate my 2 new design team positions.

This first card is for Ildi, Co. and features Cuddles Kuma Forest Thinking and Cuddles Kuma Sitting. I used Powerpoint and placed the 2 images facing each other and printed them out. I colored them with Copics and created the grass with Prismacolor pencils.

My next card features Sunshine Stamps "Malcolm Milk Truck". I also printed out the sentiment. I colored Malcolm with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS.

That's it for today!!!

Happy Stampin'!!

What I was up to yesterday!

Lots of card making!!!!! Some I'll share here with you today and some I can't share with you just yet, but I will!!!

First, some exciting news!!!! I've been asked to be on the DT for 2 digital stamp companies!!!! Ildi, Co. and Sunshine Stamps!!! I'm so excited to be working with these new companies as they are just getting started and have so many wonderful images. I'll admit, I wasn't a big fan of digital stamps at first....mostly because my computer ink would smear all over the place with any kind of coloring medium I tried which of course was just frustrating. Then I got a new printer and this thing is da bomb!!!! I can grab the print out as soon as it's done and watercolor if I want with zero ink smearing!!! I love it!!! And it's allowed me to be able to work magic with digital stamps. Stay tuned as I'll have some cards to share with those images later on today.

For the first card I have to share with you right now I used Gina's newest technique from StampTV for Watercolor Spritz. I chose to you the set Tropical Flowers and added in a sentiment from the new StampTV set. The cardstock is SU!'s new In Colors Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango. I stamped the images on Gina K's Pure Luxury White 120lb cardstock. The DP, ribbon, and brads are also from the StampTV kit Signs of Autumn. I'm just loving this new kit....the colors are some of my favorites.
I created this next card for my sister who needed a 30th Wedding Anniversary card. I stamped out the Whiff of Joy Wedding Cake on white cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I added a few shadows with Copics. The embossing on the white shimmer layer is SU!'s embossing folder "Elegant Bouquet". I added some self adhesive pearls to the flower centers. The sentiment is from Stamping Bella punched out with the Word Window punch from SU!
Here's a closeup of the cake, so you can see where I added some Liquid Applique to add dimension to the little icing dots.

More to come later! I'm off to meet my parents for Sunday breakfast!
Happy Stampin',
Shannon

Etsy Inspired #48

Happy Saturday!!! It's time for this week's Etsy Inspired challenge. I'm sure excited about this week's store, since I'm a big fan of her stamps.

Yep, I'm talking about Jessica Rose's Vol. 25!!!! Love her Etsy shop too!! I really need to get some of her prints for my house. I used her piece "Lime Light" as my inspiration since I've been wanting to color up this image.

I used her stamp from Stamping Bella called "Limelight Hanging Block". I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black on Bella paper and colored it with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I paired it with Brown paper bag paper by The Paper Temptress and Dill Blossom by SEI.

Ashley has also extended the BOGO event for the $25 Paper Makeup Stamps gift certificate! And she's opened it up to DT members as well, so if you are new to the Etsy challenge remember to tell Ashley I sent you.

This week's Random.Babies winner will get their choice of a Jessica Rose 8x10 print!!! Along with an entry for $25 PMS gift certificate for every friend you bring.

Bellariffic Friday!!!

It's finally Friday!!!! And you know what that means......it's Bellariffic sketch day!!!! Yippie!!!!
For today's sketch by the uber-talented Ms. Paula, I decided to play with DayDreamabella that I had stamped out over the weekend.
I colored her in using Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I cut out the image using a Nestabilites die, and sponged in some color around the edges using the die as a mask. The papers are glitter and shimmer papers from SEI.
My sister quickly claimed this as her birthday card.
Check out all the other FABU creations from the DT and the peanut gallery at Bloggabella.
Have a great Friday!!

Ilde Co -- Cuddles

So.....I guess I've left you hanging long enough. Mary, are you still breathing? Paula doesn't want you going all wiggy on me!!!

Look at this little cutie!!!! His name is Cuddles! And he's available from a new digital stamp company Ildi, Co. He's available for free right now, click here to find out how to get him. They are also having a DT call, so make sure you put your name into the hat!!! I know I am. I can't resist this little guy. Too cute!! I colored him using Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I can't remember how many different browns I used to get him looking just right. I then added in the grass so he wasn't just walking in space and little flowers with Souffle pens. The branch above him is actually the branch from SU!'s "Bird on a Branch" set. I used it here with tiny punched cardstock flowers with stickled centers so he has something to be looking at. I added "Sweet Pea" flowersoft to the sentiment oval along with another punched out flowers.
Hope you're having a good Thursday! Just think....tomorrow is Friday!!!! Yippie!!!!
Happy Stamping,
Shannon

Fun Inspiration

Morning!!! Are you having a great day yet? I am!!!!! hee hee....

I thought I'd share 2 cards with you today that I made for the Gina K Release Party last week. It's been just amazing being on Gina's July Center Stage Spotlight team.

Both cards use Melanie's newest set "Inspiration Mosaic". This set was a bit intimidating at first....but once I started playing with it, all these great ideas on how to use it just started coming to me. Melanie has also put together a tip sheet on her blog to help generate more ideas for this amazing set. This first card also uses the newest cardstock color Green Apple. It's sooooooooooooo yummy!!!! My order arrived yesterday so I don't feel the need to stash it away and savor it anymore. I paired it with Theresa's set from the last release "Happy Camper" that I had yet to ink up. Sheesh!!!! I stamped the grid first onto Gina K's Pure Luxury 120lb white cardstock in Memento Rich Cocoa after stamping it off twice first. I then stamped the mountain scene in Rich Cocoa and colored it with Copic markers. I did add some color to the trees with Prismacolor pencils. I used Bashful Blue to sponge in the sky. The lantern and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals. I added some swirls and branches along with a Kiwi Kiss button in the corner. See how well that "matches" with the Green Apple cardstock? Love it!!!!

This 2nd card features 2 of Melanie's sets...."Inspiration Mosaic" and my all time favorite "A Year of Flowers". The DP is from Emily's newest set "Timeless Treasures Solids", which is a freebie over at StampTV!!! Love that!!!
For this card I stamped the grid onto Gina K's 120lb Pure Luxury cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black. Then using Post-It notes as my masks, I stamped flowers into the 4 areas I wanted them. I also stamped in the sentiment in Tuxedo Black as well, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it just right. I colored the flowers and added the shading with Copics. I then stamped the grid again onto the blue and the rusty orangy colored paper that I printed out. I cut the sections I wanted from each and adhered them to the main grid. Added a MS butterfly punch with some rhinestones, and a paperclip from SU!
Did you see???? The new August CSS team has been announced on Gina's blog! I can't wait to see what fun challenges they come up with for us this month!
Also......Gina has a new technique, Watercolor Spritz, over at StampTV so make sure to check out that new video and play along with the challenge!!!
Happy Stamping!

Queen Kat Designs August Release Blog Hop

Welcome to this month's release blog hop!!!! If you've come here from the Queen Kat Designs blog, then you're in the right place....if not, pop back over there for all the good info!

I have 2 cards to share with you today.....just because I couldn't decide on just one. Both cards feature the new mermaid "Lady and the Fox". And she's beautiful! So detailed and fun to color!!

My first card uses a fun technique I saw being demoed at the stamp show this weekend in Novi, MI. I stamped her with Black Staz-On ink on Acetate. Then on the reverse side, I added layers of glitter to the majority of the image. I colored her skin and parts of the background with Copics. And since I was working on the backside of the image I didn't have to worry about the Copics smearing the Staz-On ink. Isn't she sparkly??? I used some MuddPuddles on the bottom. The sentiment is from the "Fairy Tales" stamp set that was released a couple of weeks ago.
For my 2nd card for today I colored the entire image with Prismacolor Pencils. I then added some sweet little paper flowers I created with some little bitty punches. Yes, my hand still hurts from punching them all out. I added yellow Stickles to the center of each flower. I layered her up on some Basic Grey Lemonade papers...adding some fun twill and sheer ribbons.

You can click on each of the images to enlarge them to see more of the detail.

Now, hop on over to Jules blog....I know she has something amazing to share with you.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

Timeless Treasures Blog Hop

I'm sooooooooo excited to be able to be apart of this special blog hop using Theresa's newest set Timeless Treasures. It's been just amazing working with this set over the last few weeks.

For this card I kept it pretty simple. I cut the white Pure Luxury layer first with my Top Note die then cut an oval using the oval nestability. I then embossed it with the Textile Cuttlebug folder. I layered it on Pure Luxury black in which I stamped and embossed the cameo image. The sentiment is from the Tag Lines stamp set. I added a little cameo I found in the jewelry department at Michael's.
