Growing in Unity - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my Growning in Unity week!!!! Today I'm sharing a project I had originally done for a Cuttlebug Challenge.

This first card is super simple and goes together very quick. I used the "gratitude=joy" set from Unity Stamp Co. with Memento black ink on the first 2 cards. I stamped the bamboo image then added the highlights using a white gel pen. I added an embossed border using the "Frills" embossing folder just along the edge of the DP.

For this second card, I stamped the flower and sentiment first, then ran it thru the Cuttlebug with the "Distressed Stripes" embossing folder. On the kraft layer I stamped the leaves in Memento Tuxedo Black and again used a white gel pen for highlights.
The third card uses a single from Unity entitled "Just Be". I rubbed some Tim Holtz distress inks around the edges. The kraft layer was embossed with the "Distressed Stripes" embossing folder as well.

Don't forget to leave comments here on all my Unity posts this week as I'll be picking one lucky winner on Thursday night at Hip Hop to receive one Unity single of their choice.
Happy Stamping!

GKD June release challenges

I can't believe another FABU set of Gina K Designs has been released. I was able to pop into the release party for only a quick mins. I did get an opportunity to complete all 3 of the challenges. The first one I did was for Donna's One!!! Challenge. And you can see it on this post.

This card is Lee's color challenge. I just love using pink and brown together. And I was able to use a set that I hadn't inked up yet "Friendship's Garden". I stamped the flowers with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and colored them with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. I added Diamond Stickles to the petals for some bling. The DP are by Basic Grey, and the cardstock is Stampin' Up!'s Pink Pirouette.

My second card is from Theresa's sketch challenge. I used my favorite stamp set from GKD, Melanie's "A Year of Flowers".
I colored the flowers with Prismacolor Markers, added black glaze pen to the centers and some orange and green Stickles. I sponged Aspen Mist chalk ink around the edges.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

VSN Paper Chef Creations!!!

Friday was the appetizer course for this round of VSN.....Virtual Stamp Night....at SCS. I was able to get 4 of the 5 challenges done.

This first card was created for the Vietnamese Spring Roll challenge...to create a spiral pop up card. Oh, I enjoyed this one. I've made one spiral card before and wasn't too thrilled with the results, but this one I love!!!! I stamped the large "daisy" flower from Melanie's "A Year of Flowers" set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. I added yellow stickles to the flowers centers. I then sponged Colorbox chalk ink in the corners. On the inside I created a spring with a 2" circle of Cameo Coral CS. the butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch. The flowers were stamped in the Tuxedo Black ink after once stamping off. The sentiment is from the "Tag Lines" stamp set.

This project was created for the Ooey, Gooey Cheese challenge and from the cardfront I did for the Whimsical Ink Sorority Sunday Skilz post. I just took the cardfront and placed it onto a sleeve I folded around a bag of microwave popcorn. Just pull the tied ribbon and the popcorn slides right up.

This cute card is for the Darth Tater challenge. The challenge was to create a card using the elements of potato skins....brown, white, yellow, green and the secret ingredient.....red! I used a House Mouse image for this one from my sweet friend Lee. I colored the image with Prismacolor Markers and blended with OMS. Because of the time restriction, there's no layering of colors on this one....but I still love it.

The last card I have to share with you was created for the Herb n' Man challenge....to create a masculine card using the color green. I stamped the background trees from Gina K's "Trees Silhouettes" stamp set in VersaMagic Sage ink and embossed them with clear detail embossing powder. I then stamped the pine in VersaMagic Hint of Pesto and clear embossed that. I sponged on Aspen Mist to the top and Niagra Mist to the bottom of the image. The DP is from the Rusty Pickle.

There's still time to play!!!!!! The entry deadline is Monday night at 10pm CDT due to some technical difficulties at SCS.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

I paired it with some Lime Rickey Basic Grey paper and a Pumpkin Pie card base for a fun Congratulations card for a baby boy. The sentiment is from the "Tag Lines" stamp set. I used the sketch from Jessica's challenge at StampTV.

Gina K "Embossing with Nesties" challenge

Happy Thursday!!!!!!

I have a quick card to share with you today. I created it for Gina's technique challenge this week on StampTV.....embossing with nestabilities! One of my all time favorite techniques...and perfect for one layer cards too!

I embossed my cardstock with a large rectangle nestabilities. I then added 2 score lines using my Scor-Pal for my sentiment to sit between.

I stamped the lighthouse from "Guiding Light" in Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored it with Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS. Then using the nestie as a mask I sponged in some chalk ink to kinda create a sky. Then added the piercing at the corners and across the bottom. The sentiment from "Special Fathers" is stamped in Tuxedo Black as well.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

Gina K StampTV Challenges

Monday night and I didn't know what to do with all my free time!!!! So, I worked on a couple of the challenges at StampTV. I just adore my Gina K Designs stamps and they haven't seen much love recently, so I've really enjoyed getting them out and playing with them this past week.

This first card is for Carolina's Color Challenge. The challenge was to use red, chocolate and white. Other colors were allowed, as long as those 3 were the main colors. I hope this one is chocolate enough. The DP is from the Floral Elegance digital pack. The iris stamp is from the Elegant Flowers stamp set. I colored it with Prismacolor Markers. Turns out I do remember how to use them. I sponged some VersaMagic ink around the borders. "Hugs & Smiles" is from the Tag Lines stamp set. She's giving away her sample as blog candy too!!!!!
This next card I created for Gina's Pulling Pastels technique challenge. It's so fun and easy....I'll be getting my chalks out more often now!!!!
I used Melanie's Little Tees set and Gina's Ribbon Stripes set for this card. The DP is from a grab bag I picked up at Mega Meet from the Rusty Pickle. For the pastels I used Pebbles "Pastels" chalks with sponge daubers. The bling is by Basic Grey.

Etsy Inspired #39

It's Saturday!!!!! Yippie!!!! And that means it's time for a new Etsy Inspired challenge. This week's store is WAY cool. It's called Chicy Creations. I could have created soooooooooooooooooo many different things. But for some crazy reason I've had chocolate on the brain today, so I created this candy bar wrapper. This Flower Hair Clip was my inspiration. The DP is from a grab bag I got from the Rusty Pickle at Mega Meet. I punched out the circles for the flowers then stitched around the edges on the sewing machine. My friend Theresa told me how!!! And once I tried it, it was so easy.....I think I might be addicted now. Then I distressed the edges slightly and crinkled them up. I also stitched around the sentiment panel. The stamps are from Melanie's "The Best Things in Life". I also added some faux stitching to the vellum layer with a white gen pen.
And of course....pull the ribbon and out slides the candy bar!!!!

This week's random.Kerry winner will win this velvet rose hair clip. All you have to do is go to to the Chicky Creations store and pick your inspiration piece, create any kind of project, and link it back to Ashley's blog by midnight PST on Friday June 12th and you'll be entered to win.

This first card uses this week's sketch challenge at StampTV from Melissa. I used one of the new In Colors for 2009-2010 Soft Suede....LOVE it!!!! Along with More Mustard and Whisper White. The stamp set is called Autumn Days. And the sentiment is in the set called Teeny Tiny Wishes. This one is almost SUO.....The images are from the Asian Artistry set. The card base is the new Soft Suede and I paired it with the retiring Baja Breeze. I'm sure gonna miss this color!! I stocked up on the cardstock and the reinker.....and you should too because after this month, it's gone for good. I colored the flower with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS.

For my last card I used the sketch from StampTV from Jessica. The stamps are from one of the new Level 3 hostess sets called Kind and Caring Thoughts. It's an awesome set!!!! Lots of great sentiments. I paired it with Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla and the To The Nines DSP. I double stamped the flower in Sahara Sand then Chocolate Chip to give it a shadowed look.

Lee's Crazy Season Challenge

Happy Friday!!!! I have a card to share that I created for Lee's crazy season challenge at Stamp TV.

My first thought was to use my Christmas stamps...but realized the only Christmas GKD set I have is all Sentiments....so then I was just going to pair one of those with one of my spring sets. Then as I was flipping thru my stash of 38 GKD sets, I came across "So Grateful". Which I hadn't even inked up yet....sheesh!!! So, I grabbed that.....and one of my Easter sets "Baskets of Happiness". I colored the pot of spring flowers in more earthy tones for a more fall look to go with the wheelbarrow of apples. I colored the images with Prismacolor Pencils, embossed with clear detail embossing powder, brayered the sky, and sponged on distress inks (Ashley are you listening) to create the ground. Then DBF came over and I had to hurry to complete the card so I feel like it's unfinished. The DP is some new stuff I picked up at my LSS Scrappy Chic by Cosmo Cricket.

QKD June Release Challenges

So....what did you think of yesterday's QKD Blog hop? Lots of new goodies and some great inspiration.

There are 2 challenges that are now posted in the QKD forum at PCP. One is a sketch challenge and the other is a theme challenge.

This is the card I created for the Aloha challenge. I created this scene by first using my rectangle nestie to emboss the frame, then masked off the outside and stamped Star and the palm tree. I colored them with Prismacolor Pencils and Markers. I then used the emboss resist technique with a brayer and sponging to create the sky and beach.

The challenges are open only until Monday at midnight PST....and there will be a winner for each challenge that will receive a stamp set.

Happy Stamping!

MFT June Release Challenge

Morning!!!!! I got a bunch of crafting done last night....but you won't get to see most of it until late, late tonight or tomorrow morning....if you know just where to look....hee hee....that's all I'm saying, just make sure you pop in here tomorrow morning around say 10ish to see.

Anyhoo, I did manage to create this card for the MFT One Click Challenge. The challenge was to use chipboard....and since I had just picked up some new chipboard shapes at Mega Meet, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The chipboard flower is from Heidi Swapp. I just added on the Prima flowers, dewdrops and button for interest.

The stamp is from Tea for Two and I just adore that little bunny bottom. I cut out the panel first in Whisper White and Pretty in Pink CS with the Top Note die. I then trimed the white where the small "stitching" holes are. I colored the bunnies with Prismacolor Pencils blended with OMS and the tea cup with Prismacolor Markers. I added Gelly Roll Clear around the cup edge and diamond Stickles to each of the dots. The patterned paper and ribbon are from the MFT Chocolate Kiss collection.

The release party is tomorrow night.....and that's also when they'll announce the 2 Idol contestants that will be joining the MFT Design Team for the next 6 months, wish me luck!! Make sure you come join us at MFT forum at SCS for more DT creations with the new sets.

Happy Stamping,
Shannon

GKD May Release Challenges

Now that the Idol competiton is over, I've found all this free time for stamping. Especially now that my studio and house have been cleaned up top to bottom!!! I can now stamp without the guilt of knowing I'm neglecting my house.

So, I finally inked up the GKD stamps I got from last month's release and played along with 2 of the release night challenges.

This first card is for Theresa's "Make it Masculine" challenge. I decided to use one of my favorite manly color schemes....black, white and kraft. I stamps are from the "Guiding Light" set. And I'm loving this lighthouse!!!! Must get these stamps out more often. I colored it using Prismacolor pencils and OMS to blend. I also sponged on some Bashful Blue ink to the top of the layer....distressed it....and stitched it down with black thread. I added some yellow Stickles to the windows. I also adding stitching with white thread to the DSP layer. Then wrapped on some twine and tied on a Basic Grey button.

This sweet little card is for Cat's "Make an ATC" challenge.
I was able to dig into my now organized scrap stash and make this sweet little card. It's an ATC and measures only 3.5" x 2.5". I used Melanie's "Wee Tees" set for this. I stamped the onsie first on Pure Luxury cardstock, them used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the teddy bear and "snuggle" right where they should be. I colored the trim with Deco Yellow Prismacolor Marker, and added some silver glitter roller pen to the snaps. Cut it out and popped it up on the background. This would be the perfect little tag to add to a gift bag.
Happy Stamping,
Shannon
