Etsy Inspired #38

Happy Saturday!!!! It's time for another Etsy Inspired Challenge. This week's store is Bacon Square Farm....and they have the CUTEST home decor items. Everything from signs to candle holders to lights to art to birdhouses.

I choose this sign as my inspiration. It was just too cute not to use it. The stamp is called Fanciful Border by Unity. It's stamped on Whisper White cardstock and colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. Then I added the buttons with linen thread. I then layered it with Basic Grey cardstock and Green Galore cardstock that has been embossed with the Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder.

This week's random.brady will win a Unity wood mounted stamp from Kristen. All you have to do is go to to the Bacon Square Farm store and pick your inspiration piece, create any kind of project, and link it back to Ashley's blog by midnight PST on Friday May 29th and you'll be entered to win.

Check out the rest of the DTs projects for more inspiration...

Happy HHH Friday!!!!!

Happy Hangover!!!!!!

I managed to get 2 cards made yesterday before I crashed! I think my body was still on a high from the idol win. Then at about 3:30 I crashed out for about 2 good hours.

The 2 cards I created were both for the Hip Hop challenges....and I used my new May Kit of the Month. Which has been sitting uninked until now....shame on me! The first card was for the Always New at Unity challenge....to use your newest stamp on a card. The perfect excuse to break out my May KOM. And I paired it with one of my favorite color combinations.....kraft, black and white. I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS to color the flowers. The DSP is from SU!

This card I created for the Unity's Knot Any Old Stamp Company challenge....to use a knot on your card. And I combined it with the Unity Addicts Challenge....collage....so NOT MY STYLE!!!! Lisa....why do you do this to me?????? UGH!!!! I tried...and this is as collagey as it gets.

I added lots of Stickles in Diamond and Cotton Candy just for sparkle....because I was feeling in a sparkly mood this morning.
Make sure you pop by all the other HHH posts today. You can find the list in this thread. And....go shopping at the Unity store....all the kits are on sale this weekend!!!! WOW!!!

QKD Royal Wednesday

If you've just wondered here....start over the the QKD blog to make sure you don't miss any of the inspiration. If you're here from Beverly's blog, then you're in the right place.

The BIG MFT Idol Final Project

Welcome to the My Favorite Things Idol Finale!!!!!! Whooooohooooo...... I can't believe I've made it this far. And it certainly wouldn't have been possible without your support.

There's an old saying.....Go Big or Go Home....well I'm not ready to go home....so I went BIG!!! I created a Summer Survival Kit. It's pretty picture intensive, so I won't go into a ton of details on everything, so if you have any questions about anything send me an email, or c-box me. Make sure to clink on the pics to enlarge them. Inside this kit (which is a big $6 beverage tub from Target) are the following contents.....a Summertime Emergency Card Stash...complete with 8 different cards for those last minute invites or thank yous or just because.

The Group Therapy card contains a set of 4 wine glass charms made with shrink plastic.

Everyone needs something to keep them busy on those long summer car rides...so I created 2 activity books....one for the kids and one for the mom. The kids book contains 16 pages of images to color and games to play. Yes, I received permission from Kim to enlarge the MFT images I used for this book. The covers are chipboard, and I bound it together using a Bind-It-All.

And mom needs her activity book....so I created a 20 page booklet with stamped images for her to color. The covers are chipboard, covered in printed paper.
And you can't survive summer trips and BBQs without a few essentials....so I've put together a set of suntan lotion, aloe after-sun lotion, bug spray, and a mister for those really hot days.
For that last minute invite, here's a necklace you can present to the hostess to thank her for inviting you to her party. The charm was made using shrink plastic.
And you can't go to the beach without a cooler....and how cool is this one with the coordinating "chill out" tag and matching charm.
And once you get to the party......and have given all the gifts out and opened up that suntan lotion you can fill the beverage tub with ice, a few Coronas and limes, vodka, and Appletini mix....get out the chips and salsa....and sit back and relax. The tub, being plastic, was easy to punch thru with the crop-a-dile to add holes and thread the ribbon thru.
The next day, when you're hurting from the partying the night before.....a bag of Cinnamon Vanilla Nut ground coffee. Pre-ground, because the coffee bean grinder doesn't make you happy in the morning when you're hungover!
Now that summer is here, and I'm all set.....I'm going to go pop open one of those Coronas and relax!!!!

Remember, voting starts tonight at 10pm....here are the rules.....
*All votes will be private messaged (PM'd) to the user name MFT Votes starting on May 26th at 10 PM Eastern and ending on May 27th at 10:00 PM Eastern. Any votes received BEFORE OR AFTER that, will NOT count. PLEASE do not vote until that time!

Etsy Inspired #37

Good Morning!!!! I hope you're enjoying to start of your long holiday weekend. I know I have been....even if the dog was up at 6:30 this morning.

It's Saturday and you know what that means.......Etsy Inspired!!!! Today's store is called Sunbasilgarden. They have the most adorable and yummy looking soaps. I used this shea butter soap as my inspiration piece....Cucumber Cove.

When I first saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do. And this card is a quick 10 min card too...and can be used with any number of sentiments, so it's prefect for that quick card someone asks you about at the last minute. I embossed the top layer of ivory vellum with the Manhatten Flower embossing folder from Stampin' Up! Then I layered it over Baja Breeze cardstock. Stamping the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black and added the Baja Breeze ribbon. Easy Peasy!!!!

This week's random.brady will win a Unity surprize from De. All you have to do is go to to the Sunbasilgarden store and pick your inspiration piece, create any kind of project, and link it back to Ashley's blog by midnight PST on Friday May 29th and you'll be entered to win.

Hip Hop Hangover for Heros!!!

Happy Hip Hop Hangover!!!! Yesterday's DT blog centered around heros because of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday....and we're doing the same for Hip Hop Hangover!

Naturally, I picked my Dad!!! He's ex-military...and my personal hero. He's always there for me whenever I need him...and sometimes when I don't think I do. And my yard wouldn't look the same without him. Ok...so the pic is a few years old, Dec. 2004....but it's the only one I have on my laptop of just me and my Dad. Here are the cards I created for this week's Unity challenges....the first is for the Oh My Word challenge...to make a card centered around a phrase..... I picked "Create Yourself" as my phrase to use. I added lots of distressing, sewing, and Stickles....yes, Katy....Stickles!!!!
And here's the winning card for the "Oh my Stars" challenge. I've been dying to ink up this stamp from "Folk Inspired" since I got it...and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. And....I got to you my new toy....a Scor-Bug!!!! I have a feeling it will quickly become my favorite tool. I added Stickles (yep, more of them....I know, breathe Katy...it will be ok) to the centers of the stars and squares.
Make sure to swing by all the other HHH posts today to see all the other heros and inspiration out there.
And....Angela has some AMAZING specials going on this week.....including 30% off your order!!!! Go shop!!!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #32

Welcome to Wednesday!!!! It's time for another Cuttlebug challenge. This week were got to work with the "Butterflies" combo die and embossing folder set.

I used the "D'Vine" Swirl Embossing folder on the background, sanding it lightly to enhance it. The butterfly was cut out twice using the die, and the top one was embossed. The papers are from the SEI Dill Blossom pack.

The challenge this week is sponsored by Provocraft and the winner will receive a Provocraft prize pack. Leave a link to your project at the Cuttlebug Challenge site.

Happy Stamping!

MFT Idol Top 4 -- Take Two -- The Perfect Package

It's take 2 this week for the MFT Idol Top 4. There was a voting glitch so we're doing a mulligan. And the voting process has changed....so make sure you visit this thread for details....or see the bottom of this post....

This week's theme is "Create the Perfect Package" Wow....so many ways I could have gone with this. I decided on creating the perfect package for a very special someone who's carrying a perfect package of her own! Ashley....this is for you and your family!!!!! Luv you!!!! Ashley and Dustin and 2nd time around parents.....Brady (Sponge Brady No Pants) is just about 2 now.....so they don't need all the traditional baby stuff....but mom needs pampering and I couldn't not get Brady something to keep him occupied for awhile....and of course something for Parker to welcome him into the world.

So, I created this gift set for this....let's start with the bag and card. The gift bag started off as a plain white bag, so I added the DP and CS stripes, ribbon, and image circles. The images are from the set "Snuggle Bunnies". I just adore this set and couldn't resist inking it up for this project. Both images on the bag (the image on the bag itself and the one on the matching hang tag) are covered in Dazzling Diamonds....cause everything needs a little bling. Parker's gift is in the bag, but I can't ruin the whole surprise for Ashley.....
The card uses the matching CS and DP and the "Snuggle Bunnies" set. The sentiment is from the "Essential Sentiments" set. The panels are sewn, the bunnies are paper pieced with CS I ran thru the Big Shot with a Cuttlebug folder....Spots and Dots. The panels and bunnies are all raised up on pop dots.
I got this brainstorm as I was sitting here late Sunday night playing with part of Parker's gift trying to help my sister put together a scrapbook kit she picked up at the Mega Meet....and the 2 thoughts merged in my mind.....A flip flop book titled Baby Steps. The sentiment is computer generated....
I used the flip flops themselves to create a template on folded paper to make my pages. The sentiments are from the same 2 sets as above. The flip flops are size 3-6mos to give you an idea of the size....tiny and adorable!!!!
And now....to take some of the burden off Ashley and Dustin in those first few weeks....I created a set of 15 thank you cards...and a gift certificate wallet.
The inside of the gift certificate wallet can hold as many as 6 different gift cards.....these aren't the ones they're getting....again not wanting to completely ruin the surprise....but let's just say Dustin will be able to run out and get a quick meal for everyone....and Ashley will have something to look forward to when she's up and about again and itching to get out of the house.
And....of course....all mom's need pampering!!!! Heck, I'm not a mom and I'd LOVE to get pampered like this. The package on the left contains lots of stuff for manis, pedis, lotions and potions, and just stuff to make you feel pretty! The package on the right contains....yes, the label gives it away....CHOCOLATE!!!!!! Because....well, just because....do you really need a reason to indulge in some top notch chocolate?? On these packages I used the "Girl's Day In" and "What a Girl Wants" sets. I even added some white flock to the robe to give the trim that fuzzy feeling.
And....to keep Dustin and Brady entertained.....a DVD..... Which one...I'm not telling!!! But it was super fun to create this sleeve. Just pull the ribbon and the DVD slides right up. The little monsters are from the fun "Monsters Ink" set.

Ok.....that's the perfect package for my sweet, adorable friend Ashley and her family.
Here are the new rules for voting....straight from the boss's fingers....

Hi all! As promised, here is the new voting method:
*All votes will be private messaged (PM'd) to the user name MFT Votes
*All votes will be manually tabulated and announced as soon as they are counted.
*All votes will be stored for a minimum of one week in the event an audit is needed.

Your vote will count IF:
*There is only one vote per SCS User Name. If there is more than 1 vote, only the first vote will count.
*The SCS User Name casting the vote was created BEFORE March 15th, 2009.

Why the changes?
We are getting down to the nitty gritty, the FINAL FOUR, with a DOUBLE elimination this week. There's a lot up for grabs, we want to make sure that the voting process is fair for everyone, and since the original intent was that the IDOL be selected by our MFT/SCS Family, we are implementing safeguards to make sure the IDOL is selected by fellow stampers!

Voting starts tonight at 10pm and runs for 24 hrs ONLY!!!! til 10pm eastern Wednesday night.
So, if you have an SCS account....that was active before March 15th....PLEASE....send that PM to the MFT team to vote for me.
Happy Stamping!!
