MFT Idol Top 5 Voting is LIVE!!!!

Click here to place your vote!!!! My screen name at SCS is Mrs. Mac! Please, go vote!!! I need your votes to stay in the competition!!!!

Thanks for all your wonderful support.

MFT Idol Top 5 "Frame It"

Ok.....this week's Idol Theme was "Frame It". That's pretty wide open!!!! When I was at IKEA this weekend to buy a couple more table for my studio and to get some pictures for the room my sister is staying in.....the idea came to me. Why not make picture for her room?!?! How perfect!

The frame came with the 3 opening mat....YAY!!!! So, I created the 3 scenes for each one. I etched the glass by cutting the saying out on my Cricut and using glass etching cream. Which was really pretty easy once I figured out how long to let the solution set. Everything had to be kept simple, since the glass sits right on top of the think layers or embellies allowed!
Here's a shot of it without the glass.

And here's the 3 closeup shots of the 3 different scenes. Each of the girls dresses and gloves were paper pieced, as was the store wall. Everything else was colored with either Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol or Prismacolor Markers....depending on the look I wanted.
Here's a closeup pic of the Boutique so you can see the texture and shine to her dress, as well as the self-adhesive rhinestones on her necklace and earrings.

Well, that's it....until next week (hopefully!!!)

Remember, that decision is now up to you World!!!! Go vote in the MFT forum at SCS!!!! You can vote for more than one entry, but you can only vote once. My screen name at SCS is Mrs. Mac! Voting opens at 10pm and runs for 24 hours.

Happy Stamping!!!

Mini VSN Challenge Cards

Yesterday was the Mini VSN over at SCS. I managed to get 5 of the 8 challenges done....not too bad. I also did a few other cards for design teams that I'll be showing in a few days......

This first card was for the "Let's Play Blackjack" challenge. Using different items on your card, you tried to hit 21 points. This is how I did mine.....
Base Layer - 1
PP layer - 4
Layer under image - 1
Image layer from PP - 4
Sentiment punch - 1
Sprout stamp - 5
Happy Earth Day Stamp - 5
Total -- 21 points!!!!
The second card is for Carole's "Cirque de Soleil" challenge.....being inspired by one of the songs from the Love soundtrack. I picked "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"....mostly because I have had this stamp set just sitting here uninked for too long.

This 3rd card was created for "The Strip" challenge. It was to use strips of paper on your card as your background, or other element......stripes, not stripes....but your stripes could have stripes....

It's "Happy Hour" for this 4th card! The challenge was to create a card inspired by your favorite drink. favorite drink is a strong Jack and Diet, but I just didn't have the stamps to support I went with my 2nd favorite....a nice, cold glass of Chardonnary.

And last, but not least.....this card created for the "Beat the Odds" challenge. A challenge to create a card inspired by sports you can place bets on in Vegas. And since it's playoff time for hockey, I decided to get out my Hockeymomabella for this challenge.
There's still time for you to play too! All entries are due to be uploaded to the SCS galleries with the correct keywords by Monday night at 10pm Eastern. I'd love to play with the other challenges, especially the surprise challenge hosted by Jenn and Lori, but I have a MFT Idol project to work on.
Til tomorrow....happy stamping!

HHH time!!!!

This giveaway is now closed.....

It's Friday!!! Are you hungover from the Hip Hop yesterday???? It was a ton of fun, as usual, hanging with all my Unity peeps! And there are some seriously spectacular deals this week too!!! Free stamp, Unity's choice, for ever $10 shipping with any order over $20....the past August KOM is on sale for $30....and a bunch of stamps are 40% off!!!!! Hurry....go shopping!!!! Then come back and tell me what you got!!!! ;-)

I have 2 cards....and a little share with you today! The first card I created for the Unity Colors my World challenge. We were to use the colors found on a globe on our card; blue, green, and a neutral....brown is considered a neutral.
I used the set "Lily Pad Playland" and "Distressed Dots". The dots were stamped once in Old Olive, then in Night of Navy. The cattails were stamped in Chocolate Chip on Naturals Ivory CS. I distressed and sewed around the edge of the background panel.

The 2nd card is for the Almost Birthday challenge. We were to create a birthday card without a typical birthday a cupcake or candle or gift....but any phrase was allowed.
The flowers are from the "Flower Fantastical" set, and the phrase is from "Love in the Air". It was a super simple and really quick card to put together. The flowers are colored with Prismacolor pencils and markers. I added a bit of paper piercing and some ribbon at the top to finish it off.
Now, since I've had so many wonderful opportunities come my way recently....the Stampin' Success article published, the feature on Unity's blog, my DT positions, and I've reached over 60 followers here on my blog!!!! I want to spread the wealth!!! With a little Unity blog candy!!!!

I love Unity!!!

*3rd post of the day....scroll down for the Cuttlebug Challenge and the QKD blog hop*

On Monday I got a super thrilling PM from AJ....asking me if Angela could feature me on the Unity Stamp Co. blog. OMG......of course!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to get up and do a happy dance right at my desk, but thought I'd end up getting some really strange looks from my it would probably just cause a coughing fit.

My first card I created using the "Love Ewe" set. I colored the lambs with Prismacolor Pencils. I just adore these little guys....aren't they cute???

The second card I used "Birthday Chic". I paper pieced the gift with Basic Grey's "Archaic" paper. I used a sparkle pen on the ribbon for an extra bit of sparkle.

I'm so in love with Unity stamps....and all the wonderful people at Unity. Come chat with us in the SCS forum! I got hooked during a Hip Hop chat one week.

And don't forget about the Unity Kit of the Month!!! It's a terrific deal and a great introduction to the Unity stamp line.

It's Wednesday....time for Cuttlebug Be Inspired! This week's sponsor is Marks Paper Co. One reader will win a paper pack from Marks Paper Co. this week, so make sure you link up your creation at the Cuttlebug Challenge blog.

For my card I used papers from the Old Fashioned Courtship Collection. I embossed the red paper with the "Distressed Stripes" Cuttlebug Embossing folder. After embossing I lightly sanded the stripes to make them pop.

The stamps are from "A Charmed Life" by Gina K Designs.

Happy Stamping,

MFT Idol Voting is Live!!!

Click here to vote for your favorite MFT Idol. You can vote for multiple entries, but you can only vote once. My screen name is Mrs. Mac.

MFT Idol Top 6 One-Layer Card

It's "go time" again for the MFT Idol competition. This week's challenge was to create a one-layer card. And since I just received some new MFT stamps in the mail I decided to ink them up and put them to use.I used the stamp sets "Funky Flowers" by Sara Williams and "Happiest Birthday Wishes". I created an embossed frame using one of the Long Rectangle Nestabilities flat-side down. I stamped the vase first, then the 3 larger flowers masking 2 to create dimension. Then with all 3 masked off, stamped the smaller flowers, leaves and stems. The stems involved some masking in order to lengthen them since you'd be able to see them in the "glass" vase. I colored the 3 large flowers, leaves, vase, and shadows with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I used Post-It Notes along the embossed line and sponged Bashful Blue ink on the top of the card front. I used Yellow Stickles on the flower centers, and Orange and Xmas Red Stickles on the flowers. Xmas Red stickles were also used to create the 2 dots next to the sentiment. I also added a layer of Crystal Effects to the vase. I used the embossed frame as a guide line to add the piercing above the bouquet.
And I couldn't just leave the inside I added a couple flowers along with the sentiment on the inside. I used the same Prismacolor Pencils and Stickles on the inside as on the front.

Closeup pics for you can see the coloring, Stickles and Crystal Effects better.....

Card Details.....
Stamp Sets: "Funky Flowers" by Sara Williams, "Happest Birthday Wishes"
Cardstock: 120lb Pure Luxury CS by Gina K. Designs
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Ridng Hood Red, Memento Tuxedo Black, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol, Orange Stickles, Yellow Stickles, XMas Red Stickles, Paper Piercer and template, Crystal Effects, Long Rectangle Nestabilities, Stampin' Sponges

Etsy Inspired #32

It's Saturday!!! And that means it's Etsy Inspired time. This week's store is Angel Face Designs. She makes really adorable bracelets and charms and such.

I choose this piece as my inspiration. It just called out to me as I haven't had a chance to ink up this new set of Melanie's from Gina K Designs.

I paper pieced in the red wine, adding some darker red Prismacolor pencil blended with Gamsol around the edges. The charm is stamped on silver mirror paper and popped up on a mini pop dot.

Etsy News.....
Lindsay has opted to step down from her spot...and we're going to miss her amazing inspiration every week. So, Ashley has extended the contest until May 1st. at noon Pacific Time. And not only includes an opportunity for a Guest Spot in June, but also an opportunity for a perm. spot!!!! All you have to do is complete all 4 April challenges by May 1st. Details can be found on Ashley's blog.

Be sure you leave a link to your project on Ashley's blog this week! The random pick winner will get their choice of either a Mom2 necklace or a Tutu Cute necklace. Go check out the rest of the EI team's creations.....

Etsy Inspired #31

Hey!!!! It's Saturday morning...and you know what that's Etsy Inspired day!!!! Today's store is Make Mine Mud. She makes the most adorable clay art pieces, tiles, buttons, pots, etc.

I used these pieces, Mosaic Tiles, as my inspiration.

This is the card I'll give to my parents on Sunday for Easter...hope they don't see this post before then.....

The card base is Kiwi Kiss cardstock and I used one of my new Spellbinders Impressabilities to create the embossed background. They are really thin..and bend easily, so if you have them, be careful with them. I used the following sandwich....from the bottom up in the Big Shot...Multi-purpose Platform, Tab 1, Cutting Plate, Embossing Plate, Card base, silicone sheet, Emboss plate.

The stamped images are from Rubber Stamp Tapestry. My LSS carries a few so I can get my fix inbetween stamp expos or ordering online. I stamped the pots and sentiment in Chocolate Chip...the flowers in Pixie Pink, Pink Pirouette, and Yoyo Yellow (one of those colors I never pull out)...and the leaves in Always Artichoke. I achieved the varying degrees of color by stamping multiple times before reinking.

The DP is "Urban Prairie" by Basic Grey. For embellies I added "Peony" Dew Drops to the base, and "Cotton Candy" and "Yellow" Stickles to the flowers.

Make sure you play along with us! Ashley is still looking for a June DT. All you have to do is complete all the challenges for April (this is #2) and you'll be entered to win. Details can be found on Ashley's blog.

Queen Kat Designs ATC Challenge

**2nd post of the day, scroll down for HHH**

My first order of Queen Kat Designs stamps arrived today!!! So I just had to get them out and get them inky!!!

And....I noticed that the Queen Kat herself, Vicki, is hostessing an ATC challenge on the QKD blog. The challenge is to use Pink or Red on your ATC.

Easy Peasy!!!! I stamped the ATC base with the "Aged Text" background's ATC Close to Cocoa....then using Creamy Caramel I stamped the "Coffee Stain". The sentiment is from the "Doodled Rose" set and is stamped in Pink Passion. The "Flutterby" stamp was stamped once on the base in Chocolate Chip ink...and again on White CS. I then colored using Prismacolor pencils and OMS. I cut the image out and popped it up on mini pop dots.

Hurry.....go play! Details can be found here at the QKD blog. Make sure you stop in and check out the latest releases too....including personalized ATC backers.

Happy Stamping!

It's Friday....HHH Day!!!

Hip Hop Hangover

It's a Hip Hop Hangover! How are you feeling this morning?? I was so exhausted yesterday....I laid down to take a quick power nap and was out for about 5 hours. Can you say "my body needed rest?"

I have just 2 projects to share with you today....the first I created for the Green challenge...and I won Birthday Chic with this card!!!! Yay!!!! The card uses the Giggle Grove stamp set. Which I had yet to ink up those adorable trees since getting it....sheesh! I colored the trees with Prismacolor Markers and OMS. Fun! Then I added some Lime Green Stickles to the branches....just because I needed to add some bling.

The 2nd project was created for the Unity Addicts challenge. I have a little ID number generator that I use to log into my work computer while I'm home....and well the cats think it's a toy and like to bat it around. I've found it in the trash can, under rugs, under couches, behind doors....under bookcases. So, I made this luggage tag to attach to it...and now it doesn't slide around like before so they leave it alone. And it makes it bigger and easier for me to find at 7am when I need to get logged in and ready for my first conf call of the day. The DP is by Basic Grey. The stamp is Feel the Joy...which I love and is one of my most favoritest Unity stamps!!! I used Shimmerz on the flower tops for added bling.

Don't forget to swing by Unity and scoop up some of this weekend's specials....15% off orders of $15 or more....20% all tree stamps....special bundles....etc. You don't want to miss out!!!

MFT Idol Top 7 Voting is LIVE!!!!

***sticky post, please scroll down for today's posts once you go and vote***

For the next 24 hours......the decision is in your hands America.....VOTE for your MFT Idol!!!!!! The poll can be found here, and my SCS screen name is Mrs. Mac. You can view my project here.

Hurry.....go vote to keep me in the competition!!!!!!

I've Moved!!!!

Well....not literally! I moved my studio!!!!! It was up in a small 2nd bedroom. Of course all the bedrooms in this house are small....but that's beside the point. I have a living room that I never housed a large leather couch and small chair and was a huge walk thru area between the front door/stairs/dining room/family room. So, I decided to go all crazy on myself and move my TV and large comfy couch from the family room into the living that room actually gets used. And move my studio from the 2nd bedroom into my family room.

This first pic is the view you get from the doorway leading into the room. Yep...complete with door so I can close off the rest of the house if I wanted or needed to. You can see my desk and a 2nd table....that will, with the arrival of my tax refund, be replaced with a matching desk so I can have lots of stamping friends over and all be working at the same height. The only things on my desk are my tool caddy, Prismacolor markers and pencils, cutter, stamp scrubber, and Scor-Pal...and of course my laptop. This is the bookcase directly behind my table. It houses all my paper, ink, adhesives, small tools, and my dry erase board on the wall where I keep track of upcoming deadlines.

This is the corner right next to the doorway where you walk into the room. All my alterables are stored in the little drawer unit. All my business supplies, etc are on the bookcase.

This is my tool corner. It's an area between the faux fireplace and corner built in unit. The rails are from IKEA that are holding the punches....I think I need a few more. The bookcase holds my Big Shot, BIA, Cricut, embossing powders, etc.
This is the corner that houses all my stamps and embellishments!!! Love it!!! The loveseat is where the cats like to hang out....hence the blanket on the back. Much easier to take that and toss it in the wash than trying to vacuum cat hair off the microfiber.

Here's a closer view..... One bookcase is for all my for all my SU! stamps....and the other for all my unmounted and various wood mounted stamps, which I don't have many of anymore.

Here are my other stamping 75 gal fish tank. No way this was getting moved so it's a happy addition to the studio.
Hope this gives you some inspiration to create your own little slice of heaven in your house.
Happy Stamping!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #26

It's Wednesday.......time for Cuttlebug Be Inspired!!!! This week's challenge was to create an Easter project using vellum. And this is what my twisted mind came up with. I really need to get these difficult ideas out of my head!!!! The card was super simple and easy! I used the "D'vine Swirl" embossing folder on the vellum layer. The stamps are ones from one of the new releases from Gina K Designs "Easter Blessings". I colored the flowers and leaves with Prismacolor Markers.
This little basket was quite the idea......I saw the tutorial on the main page at SCS and decided to try making one in vellum!!!!! What was I thinking? It was really difficult to work with trying to get the bottom set. Then it's so slippery, the top layers kept slipping out. But I prevailed and managed to get it all stuck together. Once I completed the top trim piece and taped that on, the basket actually became pretty sturdy! I have it filled with chocolates and you can actually lift it by the handles. You can find the tutorial here at SCS.

Come play with us this week!!!! Create your project and leave a link with Mr. Linky on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog. This week's sponsor is offering up a $5 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners!!! So make sure you play along to win.

Happy Stamping!

MFT Idol Top 7 Project

It's Tuesday....and by now I imagine you all know what that means.....MFT IDOL TIME!!!!!!!

This week's challenge was to make just a card using the "Build a Bouquet" stamp set. Well....I originally had this idea in my head to create a beautiful floral bouquet with lots of popped up and layered flowers.....but it just didn't come out as I had planned. Maybe my color choices were just wrong. Which were completely different than where I ended up. Go figure!!

So, here is my card for this week. It's a recessed window card using the "Build a Bouquet" stamp set to create a topiary. The card measures 8"x4". I first created the recessed window from Night of Navy cardstock. The topiary itself is created using the 3 different sized circle stamps in the set. I used the Rock n Roll technique with Mellow Moss ink first and Always Artichoke to roll the edges in. I then used the small starburst stamp in Mellow Moss ink to create the illusion of texture toward the center, and Always Artichoke on the edges....allowing the stamp to go just outside the line of the circle to create a more natural feel. I then stamped several Riding Hood Red flowers onto each circle using that same starburst stamp. I then applied Summer Flower Soft to them for texture.

The pot itself is stamped once on the background, then again on a scrap piece of paper. I added some sponging in Real Rust ink to add more rustic touches, and lightly embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then raised it up on mini pop dots. The ground was created by sponging on Chocolate Chip and Really Rust inks, using a post it note as a mask.
The ribbon on the card base was actually an afterthought. Once I laid the main image onto the card base it began to almost appear like one of those bulletin boards with the pretty ribbons running across I recreated that on the card base using self-adhesive pearls as my pins.
I added a couple of Prima flowers and straight pin with ribbon to the lower front corner....and self-adhesive pearls to the top corner of the raised frame.
The sentiment is from the "Boho Blossoms" set. I created the tag for it by rounding the corners with a corner punch and using a slot punch to create a spot for the ribbon to slide thru. I again used the starburst stamp to add some leaves to the tag and some self-adhesive pearls for the 2 corners.
And now it's up to you!!!! If you like my project and want to see me back again next week you HAVE to VOTE!!!! The poll goes live at 10pm Eastern tonight (Tuesday) and will be open for 24 hrs....until 10pm Wednesday night at the My Favorite Things forum on SCS. My SCS screen name is Mrs. Mac.
Happy Stamping!!

Etsy Inspired #30

Welcome to Saturday Morning Etsy Inspired! This week's shop is Lauren Alexander Art. She has beautiful watercolor paintings, prints, and jewelry! Just amazing!!

For my card I used this print as my inspiration, Sweet Tree. I used several different Unity stamps to create the main image...."My! What a Beautiful Tree", "Everythings Simply Tiny", "Growing in Unity" and March Kit of the Month. I added stickles to the tree for a little bling! The sentiment is punched out with Stampin' Up!'s wide oval punch.

Now, it's your turn! Stop over at Lauren's store, pick a piece as your inspiration, and create a project with from that inspiration. Then leave a link to your project on Ashley's blog. This week's prize is a pendant by Lauren, so make sure you play.
