MFT Idol Top 4 Project!!!!

Wow....can you believe we're done to the Top 4 already? Where have the week's gone? Oh, that's right....gobbled up by this very competition. And I love every minute of it!!!!!

This week's theme is "Motivational Women". And a pink and brown color scheme. Fun!!! I first was going to do a set using the "Think Pink" stamp set. Then I was going to bend the rules, as you know....Well behaved women rarely make history....and use some of my sets like "Girls Night Out" and "Meet me at the Cafe". Then...it kinda hit me when I sat down to work on this Monday night.....make a scrapbook layout using the motivational women in my life. So, that's exactly what I did. No big elaborate gift set this week, no one-layer card, just a labor of love.

I used the stamp set "Boho Blossoms" to create the background on both pages....the pink side has the solid heart and the brown has the scrolly heart. The "Then" page contains the motivational women in my life....my mom, my grandma, and my great-grandma. Yep....she was still kickin until I was into my 20's. It was so awesome to be able to know her and really understand all the hardships she and my family went thru when they first came to this country. Interesting fact....my great-grandma was born here in the states...but my grandma was born in Slovakia!!!! And of course my mom and I were born here in the states....my mom back in PA and me here in MI. My great aunt still lives back in St. Michael....just up the road from my great-grandma's former house.

Ok....back on track here....

The "Then" page......I used the BEAUTIFUL Chocolate Kiss paper from this month's VIP kit....distressed the edges....sewed around it a few times....sewed down the ribbon on the side...added some half-back pearls, a hidden journaling tag, buttons, and swirls. The "timeless" sentiment is also from the "Boho Blossoms" set.
Here you can see the hidden tag with the journaling on it....complete with more Chocolate Kiss paper and "Boho Blossoms" stamps.
Closeup so you can maybe, sorta read the journaling...
Here's a closeup of the detail in the corner.....the swirls are diecut using the Sizzix Vines and Flowers die.

And onto the "Now" page.....
For this one, I wanted to keep the same elements I had on the "Then" page, but modernize them. So, instead of sewing, I did faux stitching. The ribbon, also from the VIP kit this month, is gathered up and mini rhinestones added. I also added rhinestones to the diecut swirls.

Again...the background and "destiny" sentiment are from the "Boho Blossoms" set. The picture is me, my sister, and my mom.

Here's a pic so you can see the journaling tag....and a closeup so you can read the journaling....

Here's a closeup of the detail in the corner....the flowers are Prima flowers...and the punch is by EK Success.

Well, I hope you enjoy my little project.....and enjoyed it enough to vote to keep me in this competition another week!!!!

Remember, voting starts around 10pm eastern in the MFT forum at SCS. TWIST....this week is a non-elimination round.....but....Kim, the owner of MFT, will donate $50 to a charity of the top vote getter's choice. My choice is my local Hospice chaper....because of all the support they gave to my grandparents and my family before both of their deaths.

Until tomorrow....

Happy Stamping,

Shannon
