This week's challenge was to make just a card using the "Build a Bouquet" stamp set. Well....I originally had this idea in my head to create a beautiful floral bouquet with lots of popped up and layered flowers.....but it just didn't come out as I had planned. Maybe my color choices were just wrong. Which were completely different than where I ended up. Go figure!!
So, here is my card for this week. It's a recessed window card using the "Build a Bouquet" stamp set to create a topiary. The card measures 8"x4". I first created the recessed window from Night of Navy cardstock. The topiary itself is created using the 3 different sized circle stamps in the set. I used the Rock n Roll technique with Mellow Moss ink first and Always Artichoke to roll the edges in. I then used the small starburst stamp in Mellow Moss ink to create the illusion of texture toward the center, and Always Artichoke on the edges....allowing the stamp to go just outside the line of the circle to create a more natural feel. I then stamped several Riding Hood Red flowers onto each circle using that same starburst stamp. I then applied Summer Flower Soft to them for texture.
The pot itself is stamped once on the background, then again on a scrap piece of paper. I added some sponging in Real Rust ink to add more rustic touches, and lightly embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then raised it up on mini pop dots. The ground was created by sponging on Chocolate Chip and Really Rust inks, using a post it note as a mask.
The ribbon on the card base was actually an afterthought. Once I laid the main image onto the card base it began to almost appear like one of those bulletin boards with the pretty ribbons running across them....so I recreated that on the card base using self-adhesive pearls as my pins.
I added a couple of Prima flowers and straight pin with ribbon to the lower front corner....and self-adhesive pearls to the top corner of the raised frame.
The sentiment is from the "Boho Blossoms" set. I created the tag for it by rounding the corners with a corner punch and using a slot punch to create a spot for the ribbon to slide thru. I again used the starburst stamp to add some leaves to the tag and some self-adhesive pearls for the 2 corners.
And now it's up to you!!!! If you like my project and want to see me back again next week you HAVE to VOTE!!!! The poll goes live at 10pm Eastern tonight (Tuesday) and will be open for 24 hrs....until 10pm Wednesday night at the My Favorite Things forum on SCS. My SCS screen name is Mrs. Mac.
