Jacksonbelle Challenge #3

How smoking hot is she????? She's one of the new stamps I bought from Bombshell stamps....and I just love her. What a perfect card for the guy in your life to "ring" in the new year. ;-) I created this for the third challenge for Jacksonbelle Embellishments. The challenge was to create a card that reflected your New Year's resolution. Well, mine is to be more eco-friendly....so I wondered over to my scrap pile and created this card without having to cut into a brand new sheet of cardstock and used accessories I had on hand.

Details:
Stamps: "Bombshell Angel" by Bombshell Stamps
Paper: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, 120lb Pure Luxury CS, Archaic paper by Basic Grey
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Really Rust
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets in Pewter, hemp twine, self-adhesive rhinestones, Orange Peel Stickles

Jacksonbelle Challenge #2, Gina K Black and White Challenge and Technigue Night

I created this card with 3 things in mind.....the JBelle Challenge #2, Gina K's Black and White Challenge, and my technique Night featuring the dazzling diamonds technique. I used that technique on the cut-out butterfly as well as on the sentiment. But the dazzle on the sentiment doesn't show up real well in the pics. It's very subtle in person, but just there enough to give it that extra little something. I also used a metallic silver paper I found at JoAnn's for matting.

Are you up and playing along tonight? Well I am. There's nada on tv right now and the BF is down sick with the flu. So, I'm spending the night surrounded by those I love....my precious rubber stamps....and my good friends Captain Morgan's and Jack Daniels. ;-)

I created this card for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments Challenge #1....."ring" in the New Year. So, I decided to grab the "Occasionally" set for the phone....get it phone, ring....anyway..... and created this cute 4.25" x 4.25" card. Super easy and sure cute!!!!

Gina K Challenges before the New Year!!!

Challenge 1: Double Mat
Challenge 2: Off-Kilter

I finally decided to open up my brand new Bombshell Shamps for these 2 challenges. They arrived 2 days before Christmas and I haven't had a chance to play with them yet. So, I grabbed this little lady from Ahoy Sailor, inked her up and created this card. I love the old-school tattoo art pin-up girl look to her. And I think this would be a great card for a guy or a girl. I added a bit of blue to her uniform and colored her hair and the stars with my Prismacolor Markers. I cut out the knot of rope and popped it up on a mini pop dot.

Stamps: Ahoy Sailor by Bombshell Stamps
Ink: Basic Black, So Saffron, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White, Night of Navy, Close to Cocoa

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Nothing like a few last minute projects for gift giving!!! I created one for each of my cousin's girlfriends with their first inital, and one for my aunt with her full formal monogram. They actually went together really quick. The papers were mostly printed on both sides, so I was able to just cut the top portion off and flip it over to get the contrast. I used my JustRite Stamper for the monograms. I created the scallop medallion with my Nestabilities. Put 6 together in a box with envelopes and tied some silver stretch cording around them.

Stamps: JustRite Stamper
Paper: PP by My Mind's Eye and Anna Griffin, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron

Homemade Christmas Gifts

This is a homemade lotion and bath salts set that I made for my mom and sister for Christmas. You can get the recipe here at SCS for the lotion. I printed the labels from my computer. I used the Designer Label punch for the bath salts and my Nestabilities for the lotion.
I paired them with a white pillar candle and a puff in a pretty little basket. Then I wrapped them in cellophane. Now we hope the cats don't destroy the wrapping before Christmas Day.

InStyle Stamps Sketch

I created this sweet little card for InStyle Stamps Sketch Challenge. Better late than never again. This Christmas stuff really has me off my game. Well, after Thursday I'll be back to normal anyway!!!! I colored Miss Suzie Q with my Prismacolor Markers and paper pieced her shopping bags. All I have to say is that she apparently wasn't shopping at the mall I was at on Sunday!!!!!!!! She's way to happy to have dealt with those crazy crowds. Now I remember why I do my Christmas Shopping online!

SCS Sketch Challenge 12-17

Better late than never I guess. That's kind of how my Christmas decorating is going as well this year. But my mom and I did get my tree up yesterday after breakfast, so that's a start.

Anyhoo.....here's my card for this week's sketch challenge at SCS. Isn't she cute? I was kinda in need of something fun and sunny with all the snow outside. There was another good inch plus for me to clear yesterday morning before leaving for breakfast. This is Sheree from InStyle Stamps. Isn't she adorable???? She looks so relaxed and happy.

I colored her and created the tile wall with my Prismacolor markers. Then I added some Waterfall Stickles to some of her bubbles for a little extra sparkle.

SNOW DAY!!!!!

Shoveling Snow
About 10" of it fell today. The pup wasn't quite sure what to do about it, since the snow almost came up to his tummy out on the lawn where there was still a few inches from the last snow fall. And we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow. I might have to go shovel a spot for him to do his business if we get much more.

I did make sure the mail lady could get to my porch since I was expecting my Gina K. Designs package today. And sure enough....it arrived this afternoon. yeah!!!! I love new stamps. And I have lots of reasons to ink them up. But not today.....body is sore from all the shoveling.

Hope you're able to stay warm today and this weekend!!!

Hugs,
Shan

SCS Sketch Challenge 12-10

So, I'm a little behind on sketch challenges this week. I blame the Snowman Soups!!!! Either that or everything else that's going on this time of the year. Work was just crazy today and I needed to relax so I whipped up this card for this week's sketch challenge in about 5 mins. Seriously.....it was that quick. I picked up the top Basic Grey paper pack from my shelf, picked a printed paper from there and 2 coordinating solid colors and my neutral and went with it. The color scheme seemed kinda "manly" so I didn't want to over embellish it and just kept it simple. I even managed to add in the "friend to friend" sentiment at the bottom. I used my Cuttlebug folder on the base and rubbed a sponge with Chocolate Chip ink lightly over it to bring up the detail. And I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. And it was just the relaxing card I needed.....well that and the Captain's and Diet Coke sitting next to me. hee hee!!!!

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS… author unknown

Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cuttlebug, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,"Hi Santa, " I said
"You know....good little girls should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa,And now I've been caught.
But I was just so excitedTo see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly,And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim
As he put it in gear.
"You've got enough crap,I'll see you next year!"

How cute....

are these little guys!?!?! This is hopefully the last order of Snowman Soup for the year. I probably spent 2.5 hrs. tonight putting together 25 mugs. One order of 5 mugs already went out. So exciting!!!! I'm just glad I have a few hot chocolate packets left over for me to enjoy after all my hard work. And since I didn't have time to do any challenges or anything else tonight to update my blog with I figured I'd pull one out of the vault.

I created this card for one of the Birthday Babes over at SCS.

Gina K Challenge #1 - December

This is the card I created for Erika's #1 Challenge from Gina's launch party. She did her's as a scrapbook page, but since I really have no pics to scrapbook right now I did a 6" square card instead. I stamped the flowers in Chocolate Chip onto the printed paper and watercolored them.

Gina K Challenge #3 - December - Take 2

Take Two for Donna's Challenge.....and I like it alot better!!! The card I created yesterday was nice, but I just wasn't lovin' it. This one....I love! It's a 5.5" square card. I used a sketch from Allison's So Sketchy! Blog. She's also having a Design Team search so check it out. I think I may even throw my hat into the ring since I LOVE doing sketch challenges.

For this card I paper pieced the coffee bag with the same PP on the side of the card. I used my Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder to add some interest to the left hand side, since it felt like it needed just a little something. Then instead of a snowflake like in the sketch, I cut out one of the cups in the My Cuppa' Joe set and popped it up on a Pop Dot. And finished it all off with some cappuccino baubles.

Gina K Challenge #3 - December

This is what I came up with so far for Donna's challenge from Gina K's release party. I'm not so sure I'm really liking it. I mean, it's ok....just not what I was really going for. I think my brain is fried and I need some rest. I'll try again tomorrow to see if I can come up with something better for the challenge.

Gina K Challenge #2 - December

I've finally had the time to sit down and work on the challenges from Gina's release party last night. Theresa's challenge was to use paper for your embellishment. You had to use one of these techniques in a card, layout or 3-D item.

Piercing
Torn Paper
Scoring
Dry Embossing
Punching

As you can see from the card I choose pierching and piecing. I cut out each of the poinsettia images and layered them on top of stamped images. The center one has one extra layer. Each of the flowers is sculpted using the large ball of my empressor stylus. I added depth of each of the petals with my Prismacolor markers and sponging Pretty in Pink on the edges. The piercing on the oval was done free hand. I used the oval nestabilities to cut the oval for the sentiment. I put it all together then added some yellow Stickles to the center of the flower and cotton candy Stickles to the petals of the center flower. Then I decided to finish the inside as well using one of the extra flowers I had stamped. The green here is also pierced to match the front.

Just Because....

I was finally able to get around to checking out what I missed last night during Gina K's release party. I was just so exhaused after the trip all I wanted to do was collapse onto the couch and veg. We ended up ordering a pizza and watching Dark Knight....I fell asleep about half way thru. Just couldn't stay awake. So, anyhoo....Gina released a new set last night called "Take Flight". And it has 2 amazing butterflies! Well I was so inspired by all the beautiful cards made with the set that I dug deep, found "On Gossamer Wings" and created this card.....well, just because. I wanted to add some spakle and dimension to the butterfly image, so I used first the dazzling diamonds technique, then 2 layers of SU! Glassy Glaze. And while it was still alittle bit warm, I curled up the wings just slightly. I mounted it up on 2 mini dots on top of the same image that's stamped onto the pure luxury CS. I used Creamy Caramel around the Top Note Die to give it a bit of an antique effect. I think it still needs something in the corners, but I don't have any brown brads on hand, and the baubles seemed too big. I didn't want them competing with the butterfly. And since the outside was so pretty, I did the inside as well, which I rarely ever do.
